Corporate Overview
Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, Province Healthcare owns and operates 20 acute-care hospitals in attractive non-urban markets throughout the United States. In addition, an affiliate to Province Healthcare manages 36 primarily non-urban hospitals.
We believe in the value of receiving quality care and compassion close to home. That is why we are singularly focused on developing community-based hospitals in attractive non-urban markets. Because many of these hospitals serve as the only acute care facility in a geographic area, we recognize a special obligation to work closely with the local physicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and community leaders to determine local needs and to work vigorously to insure that those needs are met.

Our Philosophy
At Province Healthcare, we are solely committed to the development of hospitals and healthcare systems that serve the unique needs of attractive non-urban communities.
As the healthcare industry continues to develop new technologies and methods of treatment, we are confident that community hospitals, in tune with the demands of their patients, hold the key to the future. To meet the demands and challenges of the future, however, hospitals often find themselves in need of new leadership, greater capital resources, or enhanced medical expertise. Province Healthcare is able to offer all these resources, together with a genuine respect for the local autonomy and a sincere commitment to meeting the wider needs of the community.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the name Province Healthcare come from?
Among the definitions for the word "province" in Webster's Dictionary are "all of a country except the metropolis," and "a department of knowledge or activity." We think this clearly outlines our focus: to provide a specific service - quality healthcare - to areas of this country which are outside urban areas.
Why did you choose the rising sun as your logo?
Since the beginning of time, the rising sun has been a clear and evident symbol of possibility, opportunity, and security.
Why is there a resurgence in managing non-urban healthcare?
The health care delivery system has come full-circle since 1965 when Congress passed a Medicare bill intended to give Americans accessibility and availability to healthcare. It became costly for facilities to maintain accessibility and availability of services. To fulfill rather than constrict these services, investment is needed, especially in fast growing rural areas of the country, to bring technology and needed health services to these communities. The opportunity to deliver expanded services expressed by rural communities is one of the attractions for Province Healthcare in the rural hospital industry.
